However, the wireless network cards inside most smartphones, tablets, and laptops are built with 1×1 or 2×2 antenna configurations. Because client device hardware maxes out at 2×2 (up to 867Mbps on 5GHz), connecting to an expensive 4×4 router will not make a single device any faster.
